Two Left Feet?
So there the two of you are, in the middle of the dance floor, your special song about to be played. Your guests’ eyes are all upon you. Are you going to dance a shuffled side step?

“The first dance is such a tradition, couples should want to look good and be able to do more than a side shuffle,” says Janice Stevens of  Dance With Me Studio in New Westminster.

Stevens, teaching the social application of dance “American Style” for 15 years, offers group classes or individual instruction to couples for their first dance. She encourages couples to bring the selection of music they wish to dance to and she teaches them the steps to an appropriate dance. “Most often this is the Rumba-taken from the Fred Astaire method,” she laughs.

Starting dance lessons up to a year in advance of the wedding is an excellent idea. Then couples can learn more steps than just those they’ll dance on their first dance. The Cha Cha, Rumba, Foxtrot, Waltz and Jive can be an excellent base for any social function including the wedding. Telephone 604 521-2772
