More about Barbara Child…
Barbara Child originally from London, England, first started dancing at the age of sixteen and shortly after became a member of the Latin dance team at her local dance studio.
This highly successful team danced together for five years providing the opportunity to its members to travel extensively throughout the UK and Europe for competitions and demonstrations. Team members were encouraged to compete in amateur competitors in both Standard and Latin and from this beginning, Barbara went on to compete successfully in numerous events in and around London.
After moving to Canada she resumed competitive dancing as an amateur for a short time before turning Professional to teach and compete in both Standard and Latin styles. Her main interest was soon to become teaching others, while continuing to train and upgrade her necessary teaching qualifications.
Barbara has been teaching full time at the Grand Ballroom since the studio’s opening in 1994. Her love of dance teams has continued, resulting in the appearance of two new dance teams in 90’s. The Grand Ballroom Dance Team & Perpetual Motion dance Team, both coached and choreographed by Barbara are now demonstrating on the local scene. She is the instructor of The Latin Technique specialty class that is offered twice yearly at The Grand Ballroom.
